Zoe reaching nirvana?
If you've met Zoe, you know what I mean when I say she's a scaredy-cat. Sounds scare her. The scraping of a shoe makes her jump two feet. A loud burp, knock at the door, or someone coughing in the hallway is all scary enough to cause her to jump in the air, turn before touching the floor and run in the opposite direction. One of her nicknames is The Blur.
Well, since we've moved, Zoe has finally learned what it's like to live in a quiet, peaceful house. She rarely jumps or hides now. Even when someone deliberately slides their foot across the floor when she's walking by. (I would never do that though. Not me!) She also greets perfect strangers and meows at them (demanding a massage). I've never seen Zoe sleep with her stomach exposed or legs stretched out like she is now. Yes, Zoe is loving life.

A trip to the vet
The cat's went to the veterinarian today for check ups, vaccination and a prescription for a kitty downer for the trip. They both meowed quite a bit at first, Zoe stopping after a couple blocks. Once at the vet, Simba kept meowing and started to get hoarse.
Zoe, on the other hand, buried herself into the cat bed in her carrier and looked at me with eyes that said, "I trusted you!"
Other than a semi-truck honking its horn as we were leaving the vet office, freaking out both cats, everything went great. I thought they would be mad when we got home but they're acting normal, Zoe isn't even trying to hide and Simba hasn't peed on anything. Success!

The cats breaking Mom in
On Mom's first day, Zoe looked at Mom and then threw up on the rug in front of her. She then casually walked away, leaving Mom staring at the mess.Today, the second day, Simba jumped out of the litter box, scooted his butt across the carpet in front of Mom and then ran off, rubbing poo into his fur and the carpet. While I caught the cat so I could clean up what remained stuck to him, I could hear Mom talking about the stink. I finally got to the poo that was matted into the carpet, all the while Mom begged me to cover up the remaining turds in the litter box.
I wonder what they have planned for tomorrow?

Jade socks, done!
I stayed home today and drank Pepto Bismol. Well, not even the real brand but a store brand. Anyway, thanks to the pink stuff I'm feeling a lot better. While resting up and watching Season Two of Scrubs, it was with a great sigh of relief that I finally sewed in the last end of the jade Earl Grey sock. Don't get me wrong, I love the pattern but I couldn't wait to finish them. Plus there's the matter of my having recently received my latest shipment of LL's yarn. I'm already looking for a good pattern for my next socks.
There was one thought that occurred to me during my lazy day. Remember when we were kids and we would think about "When we were grown up?" Is this it? I feel like I'm still waiting for that portion of my life to start. I guess I should be proactive and do something about it. Or not.

Can't stop
After shipping out the Matinee Coat, I was feeling a bit of a let down. After all the excitement of knitting, completing a project and giving it away (probably never to be seen again), I felt sad. The solution? Cast on, baby!

I learned from my mistake with the coat (I didn't bother with a swatch, I figured the baby would grow into it someday anyway) and decided to knit a swatch for the booties. It seems to be a waste of time but I know it's important. My next project uses Berroco Suede and so far it's interesting to knit. I can feel a bit of a tugging sensation with each stitch.
Zoe was such a good kitty too. She didn't even try to play with the yarn. As long as I pet her once in a while, she's happy to be at my side.
Meanwhile, I figured out the proper gauge (one needle size smaller) and had a good proper crack, I mean, Knit fix. I feel better.
